I dont know why people keep adding these to their Halo groups, this picture is ugly. Add these instead [link] [link] ----------------------------------------- I always go to s profile and see all her videogame OCs and want to make one, but I LOATHE doing fanart. Im never good at it (ow these are painful to look at). After going through s profile I finally decided to confront my fanartophobia and drew up some Halo OCs (still ow)
"But like EW why THOSE? Theyre so ANNOYING" What can I say, I will forever be addicted to avian creatures. And besides, elites are grossly overrepresented, and the females are fugly. Brutes and grunts are fugly, and engineers, drones and hunters only speak in gurgles. Not much fun there. Maybe Ill make a pet moa.

Dahl is a female skirmisher, who -despite her bold and standoffish nature- managed to survive and murder her way up to the rank of champion. Her skin is light gray, almost a pale blue-white, and her feathers have a slight ruddy tint on their tips. She has a helmet, but refuses to wear it except in heavy battle, saying it makes her head itch. Her skin and appearance is smoother than most skirmisher, almost like that of regular jackals, and even parts of her armor appear ripped off of one. She has the small point defense shields on each arm, as well as the wrist-mounted plasma blade on each hand. Though her main weapon is her needle rifle, she would much rather use the daggers, and wont hesitate to bring her claws into play in a pinch. She is boisterous and surprisingly friendly, considering her track record. Like all kig-yar, she wont hesitate to trade with humans should the opportunity arise...and wont hesitate to shoot them later should the order be given. She is loyal to her squad, herself and her next meal and paycheck...and not much else. Like most kig-yar, she scoffs at the sangheili and unggoy, thinking the former to be pompous and self absorbed and the latter to be foolish and weak. In fact, the only other race shell admit to admiring is the mgalekgolo...when shes not wondering what the little worms taste like.
Gur is a male kig-yar sniper with red-orange skin and dark, rust colored frills. He is left handed, and has a point defense shield (that he never uses) attached to his right arm and a plasma dagger attached to his left that he only uses in emergencies. Though most forces upgraded to the beam rifle, he is still fond of his particle beam rifle. Though he has had 0G training as a ranger, he prefers to keep his feet on the ground, and eventually joined the ranks of ordinary snipers. He is more quiet and patient than mos kig-yar, preferring to think things over and take his time to get the perfect shot. Like many of his kind, he is loyal to money, not religion, and has been suspected of trading weapons and supplies with humans when no other forces are around. Though he generally finds the other Covenant races detestable, he does his best to keep his opinion to himself. Dont let the quiet nature fool you though, hes eaten the flesh off plenty of enemy (and the occasional ally) soldiers. Unlike many kig-yar, he prefers to make sure his dinner is dead before he eats it, something of a kindness by kig-yar standards.
The reason elites are "overrepresented", madame, is because if the combat ability that they have. They normally stand a large threat to a spartan (y'know, the entire BASIS OF THE GAME ITSELF), and have a much more diverse back-story than the other species (aside from perhaps, prophets), allowing for a lot of differentiation and levels of power.
While the other aliens are just fine and dandy, everything from Unggoy to Yanme'e... are just kinda weak in comparison to something like a hunter or an elite.
(now, a grunt tank pilot OC, THAT would be interesting.)
Actually -sir- all of the races have interesting and detailed backstories, but nobody pays attention to them because they arent as "cool" as the elites. Its the furry mentality: Why make a boring human character when you can have EARS and TAILS?! Why make a tiny masked midget when you can be a 7 FOOT DINOSAUR WITH A SWORD?? On the other hand, it seems nobody cares about backstory. If they did, there wouldnt be a million female elite marysue soldiers with giant knockers. Its also a matter of relatability. Its easy to relate to the elites, because the games and books allow you to get to know them. They have faces, expressions, voices, etc. You even get to play as one. Theyre the primary enemy, they lead all other enemies, theyre at the forefront of your attention throughout the series, so you cant help but get to know them. Its much harder to grow fond of something wearing a mask, a toothy maw that just sqwawks, or a bug.
I, personally, find the elites to be too stuck up and whiney. All they do is bitch about their honor. Kig yar on the other hand dont give a shit. They want two things: money and blood. My kind of characters. So, I made some.
I will spare you a review. I dont generally like inter species relationships when they magically result in offspring, so any review would be violently biased.
